Microsoft Band is said to deliver the goods. Is it wearable tech magic or just another false start into the future of all things wearable tech?

According to Microsoft’s Health Blog – “We are also excited to launch the Microsoft Band, a smart band designed to be worn 24 hours a day by people who are active both in the gym and on the job. The Microsoft Band has 10 smart sensors for 24-hour heart rate monitoring, calorie burn measurement, advanced sleep quality tracking and more as well as Guided Workouts curated by Gold’s Gym, Shape, Men’s Fitness and Muscle & Fitness. The Microsoft Band will keep you connected at a glance with helpful, smart notifications including incoming calls, emails, texts and social updates as well as access to Cortana.”  Perhaps their innovative approach to partner with recognized brands, products, and technology might be what sets them apart in the wearable tech healthcare revolution.

Like other tech giants the promise of connecting consumers to better manage their healthcare via applications and wearable tech, is enticing. But, what solutions will win over the consumers with sustainable usage and inter connectivity? Better yet – what/ who will unlock the healthcare revolution via easy to use data analytics from the wearable tech sector? Remember actionable data – that truly empowers consumers to be more informed, make healthier lifestyle choices, and/or to succeed on their journey of wellness – holds great promise in reducing the cost of care via prevention.
